Aberdeen Downtown Association Seeking Assistance From CommunityThe Aberdeen Downtown Association is planning a Downtown Holiday Celebration on December 5th which will include numerous activities throughout the day and night such as holiday picture opportunities for the children, gift wrapping, Tree Lighting ceremony, Snow Ball drop, Parade of Lights and more. The Aberdeen Downtown Association is calling on the public for some assistance.
Seeking Groups or Organizations who would like to be involved in Downtown Holiday Activities. The ADA is seeking groups who want to participate with the public by caroling or hosting activities for children, seniors or disabled. These types of services can be just for fun or as a fundraising activity. The Aberdeen Downtown Association would coordinate the groups’ involvement with the Holiday Celebration.
Call for Entries in the Downtown Parade of Lights, December 5 at 6:00 pm. Entries can be basically anything from floats to walking entries—only requirement is that they have to be lit. There is no fee to participate. It is also suggested that entries not be more than 12 feet wide or 14 ft high due to power lines. The parade provides a fantastic opportunity for your business or organization to gain exposure and have fun at the same time.
Tree Lights being sought to decorate the Colorado Blue Spruce 25-30 ft tree being brought into the Downtown for the holidays. Requested are multi-colored net lights. Approx 40 sets of lights will be needed to decorate this year’s tree. Many of the lights from previous year’s decorations are no longer working and need to be replaced. Financial donations to purchase new lights are also being accepted.
Please contact Georgia Smith, Events Manager of the Aberdeen Downtown Association at 226-3441 or email events@aberdeendowntown.org to be involved or for more information.
